Dear Parents and Students,

We are so excited to welcome everyone back to the Sri Lankan Dance Academy of Sydney for another beautiful year of dance, culture, and community! Our 2026 classes will officially begin on Sunday, 1st February 2026, and we truly can’t wait to see all your smiling faces back in the studio.

This year is extra special because SLDAS is proudly entering its 11th year. It is also the only Sri Lankan dance academy run by an Australian-born Sri Lankan, who truly understands what our children go through growing up with two identities. Who better to guide them than someone who has walked the same path and learned to embrace both cultures with pride and confidence?

To bless the start of our new year, we will be having a Welcome Ceremony with:
🪔 Saraswathi Pooja
🙏 An ආගමික වතාවත් to bless our students, families, and the journey ahead

We are honoured to have a special guest, the President of the Sri Lankan Association, who will:

• Light the oil lamp together with parents

• Give a short inspirational speech

Please bring the following for the pooja:
🌸 Flowers on a small plate
🕯 Tea light candles
🔥 Incense (Handun Kuru)
🍎 One type of fruit per family for the Saraswathi Pooja Vattiya

After the pooja, we will:
🩰 Have our first dance session
☕ Share morning tea and snacks
🗣 Have a small welcome discussion about the exciting year ahead

Please also bring:
🍰 A plate of food/snacks to share for morning tea

This year will be full of:
✨ New choreography
✨ A structured syllabus
✨ Performances and events
✨ Growth, confidence, and cultural pride

We know Sundays can feel tiring and it’s easy to stay home, but this is the day we build discipline, confidence, and community. Your presence means everything. Let’s start this year strong, together, and with positive energy.
